LHH is looking for a hybrid Contracts Specialist / Paralegal for a company in Cleveland. In this role, you’ll serve as a key legal resource in reviewing, negotiating, and advising on U.S. government contracts, RFQs, RFIs, subcontracts, and related compliance matters. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-stakes contract work, ensure compliance with complex regulations, and help shape the company’s engagement with government entities.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze U.S. government solicitations, prime contracts, and subcontracts to identify and interpret:
Statutory and regulatory obligations (e.g., FAR, DFARS, CMMC)
Special provisions and contractual terms
Advise on contractual and compliance risks during new business pursuits
Support strategic negotiations by identifying key issues and collaborating with legal counsel to resolve them
Assist in negotiating terms with government agencies and prime contractors as assigned
Complete and maintain representations and certifications requested by customers
Prepare and manage contractual documents, correspondence, and supporting files
Communicate contract policy and regulatory best practices to internal teams
Act as custodian of contract records for assigned matters
Assist with government registration activities and subcontractor flow-down packages
Support and review Small Business Subcontracting Plans
Periodically audit internal processes for compliance and quality control
Serve as an internal advocate to educate and promote government contracting standards
Qualifications
3+ years of experience supporting U.S. government contracts (prime and/or subcontracts)
Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CMMC, and other federal acquisition regulations
Strong understanding of the government procurement process, contract types, and risk assessment
Ability to work cross-functionally and interface with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience with contract negotiation, review, and compliance monitoring
Exceptional organizational and communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
Bonus If You Have
Paralegal certificate or relevant legal/contract training
Experience with representation and certification platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, eSRS, etc.)
Familiarity with Small Business Subcontracting Programs
$30 - $50/hr
