Title: Assistant Site Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $30–$33/hour

Essential Functions:

The individual in this position is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a residential building’s front desk. This role also serves as a key support to the site leadership by assisting with administrative functions such as rent collection, resident documentation, maintenance tracking, and certification processes. Additionally, this position leads the training of program participants entering the housing desk clerk field.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all front desk staff and coordinate their schedules.

  • Ensure adherence to internal procedures and policies as outlined in the housing operations and staff manuals.

  • Train new and current team members in emergency response, front desk protocols, and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain the staff work schedule for front desk coverage.

  • Monitor common area activity, including residents, staff, and visitors.

  • Support timely and accurate processing of resident certifications and recertifications.

  • Keep resident records organized and up to date.

  • Collect rent payments, issue receipts, and ensure proper documentation.

  • Deliver late rent and legal notices following retention policies.

  • Consistently enforce property rules and behavioral policies.

  • Manage administrative functions such as timesheet approvals and payroll submissions.

  • Review and follow up on incident and complaint reports.

  • Conduct daily property walkthroughs to identify safety concerns or needed repairs; coordinate with supervisors on resolutions.

  • Complete quarterly inspections of residential units to ensure compliance with lease agreements and regulations.

  • Engage with local agencies and community groups to promote resident safety and wellbeing.

  • Attend regular staff and community meetings as a team representative.

  • Serve as an emergency contact for building incidents and provide front desk coverage when needed.

  • Maintain a working phone line and remain reachable during on-call hours.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by site leadership.


Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • At least two years of experience in supportive or affordable housing, especially in front desk or site coordination roles.

  • Prior work with senior residents and/or families preferred.

  • Current tax credit certification or willingness to complete within six months of hiring.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of property management processes and compliance protocols.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with diverse populations.

  • Familiarity with working in urban neighborhoods or high-density housing communities is a plus.

  • Experience supporting individuals affected by homelessness, recovery, or transitional housing challenges.

  • Background working with subsidized housing and public housing agencies is highly desirable.


Supervisory Duties:

  • Direct supervision of front desk clerks, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
