Job Title: Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist

Type: Full-Time

Location: Elmwood Park, New Jersey (on-site)

Compensation: $57,000 - $66,000

Position Overview:

As an Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounts receivable, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding invoices, and maintaining accurate records. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s financial health by reducing the aging of receivables and resolving payment discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Invoice Management: Generate, distribute, and track customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

  • Collections: Proactively manage the collection of outstanding accounts, following up with customers via phone, email, and letters.

  • Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile customer accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.

  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.

  • Customer Service: Handle customer inquiries related to billing and payments, providing excellent customer service.

  • Payment Processing: Record and apply payments received to customer accounts accurately.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all collection efforts and communications with customers.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to resolve any issues impacting collections.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or a similar role.

  • Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is a plus.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, think critically, and implement effective solutions.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to achieve company goals.
