Human Resource Generalist

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance. This is a Contract role located near Evanston, IL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, and offers.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of onboarding documentation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Support investigations and resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Administer employee benefits programs including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with payroll processing and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and deliver training programs on company policies, safety, and compliance.
  • Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS.
  • Generate reports and support audits as needed.
  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus, especially in manufacturing environments.

  • Pay is $27-$35 an hour, depending on experience
