💼 Front Desk Finance Assistant – City of Ferndale, MI
Location: On-site | Administrative Building, Ferndale, MI
Pay: $22 – $25.50/hour (non-exempt)
Schedule:
Mon–Thu: 7:55 AM – 5:30 PM (30-min unpaid lunch)
Every other Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
About the Role: LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with the City of Ferndale to find a detail-oriented and customer-focused Finance Assistant. This role is the face of City Hall’s finance team, supporting residents with transactions and inquiries at the front desk.
Key Responsibilities:
Process credit card transactions and departmental deposits
Handle utility billing inquiries, tax payments, and vendor records
Respond to questions about water, tax balances, and vendor payments
Maintain and update customer utility accounts
Prepare and deliver utility bills, process adjustments and refunds
Enter and manage Accounts Payable (AP) invoices
Print/mail checks and process ACH payments
Support online payment services and assist customers
Recommend and implement process improvements
Collaborate with a 5-person finance team and assist as needed
What You’ll Need:
2+ years of accounting experience
Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation, light reconciliations)
BS&A software experience preferred (training available)
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to become bonded (no financial-related criminal history)
Work Environment:
Fully on-site at City Hall
Business casual dress code
Supportive team with 3–5 days of hands-on training
Pay Details: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour
