💼 Front Desk Finance Assistant – City of Ferndale, MI
Location: On-site | Administrative Building, Ferndale, MI
Pay: $22 – $25.50/hour (non-exempt)
Schedule:

  • Mon–Thu: 7:55 AM – 5:30 PM (30-min unpaid lunch)

  • Every other Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM


About the Role:

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with the City of Ferndale to find a detail-oriented and customer-focused Finance Assistant. This role is the face of City Hall’s finance team, supporting residents with transactions and inquiries at the front desk.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process credit card transactions and departmental deposits

  • Handle utility billing inquiries, tax payments, and vendor records

  • Respond to questions about water, tax balances, and vendor payments

  • Maintain and update customer utility accounts

  • Prepare and deliver utility bills, process adjustments and refunds

  • Enter and manage Accounts Payable (AP) invoices

  • Print/mail checks and process ACH payments

  • Support online payment services and assist customers

  • Recommend and implement process improvements

  • Collaborate with a 5-person finance team and assist as needed


What You’ll Need:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience

  • Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation, light reconciliations)

  • BS&A software experience preferred (training available)

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to become bonded (no financial-related criminal history)


Work Environment:

  • Fully on-site at City Hall

  • Business casual dress code

  • Supportive team with 3–5 days of hands-on training



Pay Details: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour
