Position Overview:


The Leave Specialist is responsible for managing and administering employee leave of absence programs, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short-term and long-term disability, paid parental leave, and other statutory leaves. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and company policies while providing guidance and support to employees and managers throughout the leave process.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Leave Management:



    • Administer and manage all leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and other statutory or company-specific leaves.


    • Process employee leave requests, determine eligibility, and provide timely communications and status updates.


    • Track and monitor leave balances, ensuring accuracy and timely documentation of all leave activities.


  • Compliance and Documentation:



    • Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations.


    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, including FMLA, ADA, and company leave policies.


    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, documentation, and reporting related to employee leaves.


  • Employee Communication and Support:



    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave policies, procedures, and eligibility.


    • Educate and guide employees and managers through the leave process, including return-to-work planning.


    • Address any questions, concerns, or issues related to leave administration.


  • Collaboration and Coordination:



    • Collaborate with HR, payroll, benefits, and management teams to ensure proper coordination of leave benefits.


    • Work closely with external vendors and insurance carriers to administer leave-related benefits.


    • Support HR initiatives related to wellness, employee engagement, and work-life balance.


  • Reporting and Analysis:



    • Generate regular reports on leave activity, usage trends, and compliance metrics.


    • Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in leave management processes.

Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


  • Experience:



    • 2+ years of experience in leave administration, benefits coordination, or related HR function.


    • Experience with FMLA, ADA, and other statutory leave regulations.


    • Experience in a multi-state leave administration environment.


  • Skills:



    • Strong understanding of federal and state leave laws and regulations.


    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


    • High attention to detail and organizational skills.


    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.


    • Proficiency with HRIS and leave management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or CEBS.
