Collections Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a local company in the Grand Rapids, MI area and is looking for a Collections Specialist to join their team!
This position is initially offered as a Contract to Hire role, featuring a hybrid work setting. The role begins with a six-month contractual period, after which there is an opportunity for conversion to full-time employment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts.
Investigate historical data for each debt or bill.
Contact clients to inform them of overdue payments and enforce payment deadlines.
Negotiate payment plans and settlements with debtors.
Maintain accurate records of collection activity and communications with debtors.
Resolve billing and customer credit issues.
Update account status and follow up on installment payments.
Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Collections Specialist or similar role.
Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g., skip tracing)
Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g., FDCPA)
Working knowledge of MS Office and databases.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
High school diploma; Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
Pay Details: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
