Inventory and Logistics Specialist
Location: Hackensack, NJ
Type: Full-Time
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per year
Summary
A growing international food import and distribution company is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory and Logistics Specialist to join its operations team. This role is responsible for optimizing inventory management, coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has a background in supply chain operations and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability while avoiding excess stock or shortages
Conduct regular audits and reconcile discrepancies
Forecast demand using sales trends and market analysis
Maintain accurate records using inventory management software
Logistics Coordination
Manage inbound shipments from international suppliers, including container tracking and customs clearance
Coordinate domestic deliveries to distributors and retailers
Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and partners
Optimize transportation efficiency and costs while maintaining service quality
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all logistics and inventory practices meet food safety standards and import regulations
Maintain records for import/export documentation (bills of lading, invoices, certificates of origin)
Support product traceability and recall processes as needed
Communication & Collaboration
Act as a liaison between purchasing, warehouse, sales, and customer service teams
Communicate with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve issues
Provide data analysis and reporting on inventory and logistics KPIs
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field
3+ years of experience in inventory/logistics roles, preferably in food or import/export
Strong understanding of international shipping and customs procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Fishbowl)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
