General Summary
Working under minimal supervision, the Chief Estimator will have strong knowledge of the Construction Industry and estimating processes and work with other Estimating team members and corporate leaders with estimating goals and policies. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Heavy Civil, DOT / Municipal, Concrete Paving, Earthworks, Underground Utilities and Structures within both the public and private sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Consistently monitors and evaluates industry-wide bid announcement publications and client or customer requests for estimates and prepares potential project information for team member review and final selection to pursue weekly.
Prepares or reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the other estimating team members to confirm complete scope.
Prepares or reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared.
Performs and/or assists with the quantity survey, take-off reports and presentations and pricing effort for internal reviews and budgets. Maintains a digital record of those take-offs.
Participates in and supports daily operations of the work of other team members that develop pricing and finalize estimates at conceptual through construction stages.

Reviews estimates before the bids are submitted.
Present and participate in final executive-level meetings to ensure that final estimate reflects the decisions of management.
Assists in monitoring job costs once project has started.
o Visits prospective job sites as needed.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Works with field and PMs to produce monthly revenue & cost forecast.
Helps resolve issues that arise in estimating and/or on the projects.
Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, Adobe, HCSS (Heavy Bid).
Additional working knowledge preferred but not required on AutoCAD, Agtek, MicroStation.
Follow all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
Always adhere to company safety standards.
o This position is office-based working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
The duties described above are not inclusive. Additional duties may be permanently assigned or required from time to time due to the need to respond to customer needs and remain competitive in the marketplace.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Estimating Manager and/or Division Vice President. Works with other employees at all levels and outside vendors.
