Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist
Location: Houston area, Texas
Job Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
Pay Rate: $28.00 - $38.00/hr (DOE)
As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the HR department by conducting audits, ensuring compliance, and providing consultative support on employee relations matters. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Coordination: Conduct comprehensive audits of employee relations practices, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Consultative Support: Provide expert advice and recommendations to HR and management on employee relations issues, audit findings, and best practices.
- Policy Review: Review and update employee relations policies and procedures to ensure they are current and compliant with legal requirements.
- Investigation Management: Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of audits, investigations, and employee relations activities.
- Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and managers on employee relations policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Employee Engagement: Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives and activities.
- HR Reporting: Prepare and analyze reports on employee relations metrics, audit findings, and compliance status to support data-driven decision-making.
- Special Projects: Support various HR projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 4-6 years of experience in employee relations, HR compliance, or a related role.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with employees, managers, and external auditors.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to conduct thorough audits and investigations.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with the capability to manage competing priorities.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with HRIS systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and compliance tasks.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive HR information.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience ($28.00 - $38.00 per hour).
