Job Title: Import/Export Specialist
Location: Houston Area, TX (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $20–$28/hour


Overview:

LHH Recruitment is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Import/Export Specialist on behalf of our client, a well-established organization located in the Houston area. This full-time, in-office contract role is ideal for candidates with a background in international trade, logistics, or compliance who are looking to apply their expertise in a dynamic business environment.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and process import and export shipments in compliance with U.S. and international regulations
  • Prepare and review documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping instructions
  • Ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation, and country of origin for all international transactions
  • Communicate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery and clearance of goods
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays or discrepancies
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, trade agreements, and compliance procedures
  • Assist with internal audits and maintain accurate import/export records for reporting and compliance

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in import/export, international logistics, or trade compliance
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, INCOTERMS, and international shipping procedures
  • Experience with freight documentation and customs clearance processes
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP or trade compliance systems is a plus
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
