We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to process in-house payroll for up to 1,000 employees across multiple pay groups or locations. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and provide exceptional service to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Process full-cycle, in-house payroll on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis for up to 1,000 employees.
Collect, verify, and input employee payroll data including new hires, terminations, wage changes, timecards, and deductions.
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and other earnings in accordance with company policies and labor laws.
Manage payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
Perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data and reports to ensure accuracy.
Maintain payroll records in compliance with applicable laws and internal retention policies.
Respond to employee inquiries related to pay, tax withholdings, and deductions in a professional and timely manner.
Assist with quarterly and year-end reporting including W-2s, tax filings, and audit support.
Stay current on payroll laws, tax updates, and compliance requirements affecting multi-state payroll operations.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure seamless processing and data accuracy.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably with in-house payroll systems and multi-state operations.
Working knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, Ceridian, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
Experience with time and attendance systems integration (e.g., Kronos, Workday, TSheets).
Pay Details: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour
