Property Accountant-Hybrid Schedule


Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant with 2 years of experience in property management accounting to join a team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of property accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage financial records effectively. This role involves handling day-to-day accounting functions related to property management and contributing to accurate financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Financial Record Keeping:



    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to property management, including rent rolls, operating expenses, and security deposits.


    • Record and process financial transactions, including rent receipts, vendor invoices, and disbursements.


  2. Accounts Payable/Receivable:



    • Manage accounts payable functions, including the review and processing of invoices and payment to vendors.


    • Oversee accounts receivable functions, including the preparation of tenant invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.


  3. Monthly Reconciliation:



    • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements and property management accounts to ensure accuracy.


    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.


  4. Financial Reporting:



    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for assigned properties.


  5. Lease Administration:



    • Ensure accurate accounting for lease agreements, including the recording of rental income, lease payments, and other related transactions.


    • Verify that all lease-related charges and credits are applied correctly.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in property management within the real estate industry.


  • Proficiency in accounting software and property management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar).


  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.


  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
