Senior Construction Accountant
LHH is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant for a client in Houston. The Senior Construction Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of our client projects. This senior-level position is ideal for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of accounting and a strong background in the construction industry. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers and the finance team to maintain accurate financial records, oversee job costing, and ensure adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
Schedule: Onsite Monday – Friday
Responsibilities:
Prepare and review financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring they are accurate and comply with GAAP.
Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, balance sheets, and general ledger accounts.
Assist in creating budgets and forecasts, providing insights based on financial data.
Use Viewpoint software to manage job costing, track project costs, identify variances, and ensure proper expense allocation.
Provide detailed financial analysis of ongoing projects, including profitability analysis, cost trends, and financial performance.
Work with managers and other departments to monitor and control project budgets, costs, and revenue recognition.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and adjustments, to ensure the general ledger reflects accurate financial information.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure all transactions are accounted for in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax, use tax, and income tax.
Assist in developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Support external audits by preparing the necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Utilize Viewpoint software to enhance financial processes.
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and improve financial reporting accuracy.
Provide training and support to junior accounting staff and other team members on accounting processes and software usage.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation is preferred but not required.
At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on construction accounting.
Proficiency in Viewpoint software is required.
Deep understanding of construction accounting principles.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Compensation: Starting at $90,0000
Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
