LHH is looking for a Controls Engineer for a direct hire, permanent position with a manufacturing client in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will lead projects involving PLCs, HMIs, continuous improvement, and eventually focus on automation and robotics. The salary, ranging from $85,000 to $100,000 annually, is based on experience and includes comprehensive benefits, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot PLC-based equipment on the production floor and perform follow-up on resolutions.
Identify and fix system issues, sensors, and equipment.
Conduct root cause analysis of equipment-related problems.
Identify and resolve process operating issues and machine faults, investigate equipment failures, create follow-up action reports, and provide technical support to production floor staff.
Assist in the design, enhancement, and implementation of automation across the manufacturing facility.
Upgrade outdated controls and programming on existing machinery.
Program and maintain HMI at each production center/cell.
Ensure compliance with all safety objectives and legal requirements for completed work.
Contribute to developing the organization’s preventative maintenance and continuous improvement strategies, implementing tools and methodologies to accelerate deliverables and enhance output.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required (non-negotiable).
At least 2+ years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Must be able to troubleshoot (or perform basic programming) using Allen Bradley PLCs
Must have experience and knowledge of Ladder Logic500/5000.
Preferred candidates will have experience upgrading outdated controls and programming.
Must be able to read blueprints and have experience with design systems.
Must possess strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter capable of succeeding with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
