Payroll Assistant

ROLE AND PURPOSE:

  • To prepare bi-weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Maintain up-to-date files on all employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Set up payroll records for new employees associated with a particular payroll.

  • Record changes to payroll records due to employee reassignments and transfers

  • Input and balance time and absence information for each payroll period

  • Reconcile employee pay totals for current pay period to employee pay totals for previous period

  • Maintain up-to-date Excel payroll summary sheets

  • Maintain physical payroll files on each employee associated with a particular payroll

  • Assist in recording monthly payment authorizations

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service for employees who contact the Payroll Department by telephone, e-mail or in person

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution

EXPERIENCE:

  • One year clerical experience in a business office preferred

  • Payroll experience is preferred but not required
