Job Title: Staff Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support our finance team during a critical growth phase. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting, experience in the transportation industry, and proficiency in SAP ERP systems. The position starts as a contract role with the potential to convert to full-time based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis for transportation operations
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Reconcile fuel, toll, and maintenance expenses across fleet accounts
• Support audits and internal controls, especially around logistics and fleet assets
• Utilize SAP for transaction processing, reporting, and data validation
• Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure accurate cost allocations
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry
• Proficiency in SAP (FI/CO modules preferred)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
