LHH is working with a client in the Kansas City, MO area who is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist. This role is responsible for managing and executing payroll operations across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting internal stakeholders with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states.
- Maintain accurate records of employee earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and labor regulations.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure data integrity and timely updates.
- Administer payroll-related benefits such as retirement plans, garnishments, and bonuses.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax documentation.
- Generate payroll reports and support audits as needed.
- Stay current on changes in payroll laws and best practices.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience; multi-state experience required
- Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, or JD Edwards.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
