Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Utility Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth. This role involves building relationships, gathering information, and generating new business with utilities and partners in the energy efficiency sector. The successful candidate will develop and execute a 3 to 5-year business development plan for each target market and thrive in a relationship-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain business development plans for target markets
- Build relationships with decision-makers in utilities and government entities
- Represent the company at industry conferences and events
- Network with industry stakeholders, policymakers, and influencers
- Engage in industry associations, committees, and regulatory proceedings
- Stay informed about market changes to identify new opportunities
- Conduct capability presentations with potential clients and partners
- Provide thought leadership through webinars, blogs, and speaking opportunities
BD Support and Reporting:
- Meet regularly with internal teams to share market and partner intelligence
- Support proposal processes with intel and content
- Assist in identifying strategic partners for proposals
- Ensure timely receipt of RFPs from targeted entities
- Record sales activities and intelligence in CRM
- Provide monthly KPI reports
Initial Goals:
- After 3 months: Learn company processes, develop a business development plan for 2024, and conduct a market assessment.
- After 6 months: Attend industry conferences, develop new industry connections, and solidify the long-term business development plan.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in utility demand-side programs
- Existing industry connections
- Experience managing and building high-level utility relationships
- Proven success in achieving sales targets and driving business growth
- Familiarity with CRM systems like HubSpot
- Ability to travel 50% to 75% for conferences, industry events, and client meetings
Location:
- Remote work
- Preferred location in the Northeast U.S.
Compensation:
- $130,000 – $160,000
