What Is the Role?
The Vice President of Business Development will play a critical role in our growth and expansion. This position involves developing and executing a successful sales strategy to drive revenue growth for demand-side management services. The VP will transition from a player-coach role with personal and team revenue goals to leading all business development activities. Additionally, the VP will be part of the leadership team and manage the proposal team in a matrix structure. A comprehensive understanding of energy efficiency and load management, along with relevant policies and trends, is essential. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and align with our values.
Strategy and Execution
Collaborate with leadership on market expansion strategies and win strategies for key opportunities.
Develop and prioritize activities to achieve business expansion goals.
Identify and monitor trends and opportunities in target markets to proactively develop solutions.
Represent the firm at industry associations to build relationships.
Assess competitive advantages and leverage intelligence for strategic positioning.
Align pricing and scopes of work to meet client needs.
Maintain client relationships and ensure expectations are exceeded.
Assist with strategic partnerships and teaming opportunities.
Business Development Leadership
Lead and support the sales and proposal teams.
Co-develop or review sales plans with the Business Development team.
Support proposal development with strategies and differentiators.
Facilitate contract negotiations.
Manage and optimize the sales funnel for maximum impact.
Report on sales funnel highlights and forecasts.
Establish performance goals for direct reports and assist with their goal setting.
Manage team budgets and collaborate on marketing expenditures.
Monitor sales team needs and performance against goals.
Company Leadership Team
Participate in strategic discussions to set company direction.
Attend planning sessions quarterly and annually.
Split time between working on the business and in the business.
How Do You Contribute?
After 3 months, you will have:
Learned the company's processes and core services.
Conducted a market assessment to identify opportunities.
Developed a sales plan for the upcoming year.
Attended leadership meetings.
After 6 months, you will have:
Attended industry conferences and developed new connections.
Solidified a long-term business development plan.
Established metrics to support corporate growth goals.
What Are We Looking For?
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (MBA preferred).
10+ years of sales experience in energy efficiency or load management.
5+ years of successful leadership experience.
Demonstrated innovation in the energy sector.
Willingness to travel up to 50% for conferences and client meetings.
Where Can You Work?
Remotely from any U.S. location or at various office locations.
Pay Range
$140,000 - $180,000 + commission based upon a written compensation plan.
