πΌ Role: Controller / Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
A well-established and publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller / CAO to lead its financial operations. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned accounting executive with deep experience in SEC reporting, REIT compliance, and financial oversight. Youβll work closely with senior leadership to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day financial and accounting operations.
Lead the financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q).
Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, reconciliations, and reports.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights that guide key decisions.
Supervise and mentor a Controller and a Junior Accountant.
Manage cash flow, capital structure, and financial performance.
Work with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party stakeholders.
Ensure that all accounting processes are in line with regulatory and company standards.
Assist with investor relations and public filings as a public company.
Qualifications & Experience:
Strong REIT experience (public accounting with public cleints or out of a publicly traded comapny) is required.
Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and reporting for public companies.
Expertise in handling SEC filings such as 10-K and 10-Q reports.
Hands-on experience managing financial close processes and financial reporting.
CPA is desirable but not required.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team and collaborating with senior executives.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
High-level communication skills to interact with both internal teams and external partners.
π° Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $200,000 β $215,000
Total Compensation: Includes annual bonus and 15% pension plan
Benefits Include:
90% employer-paid healthcare
Annual raises (6β7%)
