Job Title: Systems and Network Engineer

Location: West Los Angeles, CA

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Reports To: IT Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and emotionally intelligent Systems and Network Engineer to join our collaborative and security-focused IT team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team-oriented environment, is passionate about cloud transformation, and has a strong foundation in network security and scripting. The is a contract-to-hire role, converting to permanent between 3 and 6 months depending on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems & Network Engineering

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure, with a focus on Fortinet products.

  • Administer and support Microsoft Azure and Entra environments.

  • Manage and troubleshoot both Mac (75–80% user base) and Windows systems.

  • Collaborate with the desktop engineer and external vendors to ensure seamless IT operations.

  • Security & Incident Response

  • Monitor network security and respond to incidents with urgency and precision.

  • Participate in the organization’s transition to a cloud-first environment.

  • Work closely with the resident CSSP and external professional services teams.

  • Scripting & Automation

  • Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and Python to automate tasks and support troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in command-line environments.

  • Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with a gregarious and welcoming IT team, balancing independent work with team collaboration.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders in a family foundation environment, requiring high emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Professional Development

  • Bring fresh ideas to the table while ensuring essential tasks are completed.

  • Take advantage of the organization’s strong support for professional growth and learning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in systems and network engineering.

  • Proven experience with:

  • Fortinet firewall configuration and monitoring.

  • Microsoft Azure and Entra.

  • PowerShell and Python scripting.

  • Supporting Mac and Windows environments.

  • Strong understanding of network security principles and incident response protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team settings.

  • High emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills.

  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, during urgent incidents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Azure Administrator, Security+).

  • Experience in a cloud migration or hybrid-to-cloud transition.

  • Familiarity with vendor collaboration and support workflows.

Additional Information:

  • Temp-to-Hire: This role begins as a temporary position, converting to permanent between 3-6 months, depending on performance.

Compensation: $60-68/hr
