LHH is assisting our food manufacturing client in their search for a qualified Accounting Manager to add to their growing team. Reporting to the Controller, this position is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting functions of a manufacturing plant. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with corporate and requirements, and providing financial analysis and support to the plant management team. The Plant Accountant plays a critical role in the financial health and efficiency of the plant operations. Job Description
- Lead month-end close process consisting of making journal entries, preparing account reconciliation’s, along with income statement and balance sheet analysis
- Monitor and report on plant performance, including variances in production costs, overhead, and inventory
- Oversee the accounting and reporting of inventory, including raw materials, and finished goods
- Serve as backup for daily voucher entry, purchase order invoice entry and freight invoice entry
- Ensure balance agrees with E1 general ledger by reviewing system integrity reports.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasts, including sales, production costs, and capital expenditures
- Prepare audit schedules and other reports as required and necessary
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational efficiency and cost reduction initiatives
- Maintain the plant’s cost accounting activities, including the maintenance of standard costs and variance analysis
- Determine credit limits for all new customers along with annual review of existing customers
- Help manufacturing with work orders and various daily transactions along with supporting customer service and finance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA and/or CMA preferred
- 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent Excel skills; Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP)
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Supports values and daily actions and decisions, communicates vision and values to others, generates enthusiasm, incorporates vision when planning
