Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll/HR Generalist to in Madison, WI. This role will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing and providing essential HR support across various functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Paylocity, a solid understanding of payroll compliance, and a passion for supporting employees and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll (Primary Focus):
Accurately process bi-weekly payroll using Paylocity for all employees
Audit timecards, PTO requests, and payroll adjustments for accuracy
Ensure payroll compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly
Maintain payroll records and assist with tax filings and year-end reporting (e.g., W-2s)
HR Generalist Responsibilities:
Assist with new hire onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle changes
Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and open enrollment
Maintain employee records and update data in HRIS (Paylocity)
Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures
Collaborate with managers on performance, employee relations, and compliance matters
Ensure adherence to employment laws and internal policies
Support leave administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and track required documentation
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in payroll and human resources
Proficiency in Paylocity is required
Solid knowledge of payroll regulations, HR best practices, and labor law compliance
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
Experience with leave administration and benefits coordination
Knowledge of Wisconsin employment laws
