Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll/HR Generalist to in Madison, WI. This role will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing and providing essential HR support across various functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Paylocity, a solid understanding of payroll compliance, and a passion for supporting employees and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll (Primary Focus):

  • Accurately process bi-weekly payroll using Paylocity for all employees

  • Audit timecards, PTO requests, and payroll adjustments for accuracy

  • Ensure payroll compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly

  • Maintain payroll records and assist with tax filings and year-end reporting (e.g., W-2s)

HR Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new hire onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle changes

  • Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and open enrollment

  • Maintain employee records and update data in HRIS (Paylocity)

  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures

  • Collaborate with managers on performance, employee relations, and compliance matters

  • Ensure adherence to employment laws and internal policies

  • Support leave administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and track required documentation

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and human resources

  • Proficiency in Paylocity is required

  • Solid knowledge of payroll regulations, HR best practices, and labor law compliance

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field

  • Experience with leave administration and benefits coordination

  • Knowledge of Wisconsin employment laws

Pay Details: $30.00 to $45.00 per hour
