LHH is working with our client in New York City to help them hire a Director of Inbound Logistics & Warehouse Operations role. The role is full time/direct hire, and will report on site in Manhattan 4 days a week, 1 day remote.

Key Responsibilities
Import Management

  • Oversee all aspects of container imports, primarily in the U.S. and Canada, with expansion into Europe and other international markets.

  • Manage diverse shipment types, including POE, landed goods, and various Incoterms (DDP, CNF, etc.).

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce lead times, minimize costs, and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.

Transportation & Drayage Management
  • Direct drayage operations, ensuring efficient trucking partner management and competitive rates.

  • Implement processes to minimize accessorial charges such as demurrage and per diem fees.

  • Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms to track performance and drive continuous improvement.

Warehouse Strategy & Operations
  • Evaluate current warehouse networks and recommend strategic changes to support business growth and optimize supply chain efficiency.

  • Drive warehouse productivity improvements through process standardization and technology implementation.

  • Manage planners to oversee inventory levels, aged stock, and work order management to ensure optimal inventory health.

Team Leadership
  • Directly manage a team including an Import/Drayage Specialist, Inventory Analyst, and Planner.

  • Oversee third-party service providers handling outbound shipping to major retailers (Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.).

  • Cultivate a high-performance team culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Mandatory Qualifications
Experience
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience in logistics and warehouse management.

  • Proven track record managing international imports, particularly in the U.S. and Canadian markets.

  • Experience working with major retailers and ensuring compliance with their logistics and fulfillment requirements.

  • Demonstrated success in warehouse operations and inventory management.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Expert understanding of international logistics, customs processes, and Incoterms.

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control practices.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, AS400, as well as Terminal portals for tracking shipments, Ocean freight terminals, Warehouse Management Systems, ERP systems, and Acumatica.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Proficiency with logistics and supply chain management software.

Pay Details: $115,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year
