Location: Melville, NY
Schedule: Full-time
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing professional with physician billing experience to join our team. This role focuses on accurate and timely follow-up of outstanding claims, responding to inquiries, and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of insurance coverages and payer regulations, with the ability to manage and resolve claim issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform follow-up on outstanding claims for assigned accounts according to established policies and procedures.
Submit and follow up on primary and secondary insurance claims.
Verify accuracy of patient insurance and demographic information.
Place outbound calls to insurance carriers to obtain status updates on outstanding claims.
Analyze remittance and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents to identify issues.
Submit appeals for denials and underpayments to facilitate claim resolution.
Determine patient financial responsibility and verify insurance coverage.
Contact guarantors regarding insurance discrepancies or missing information.
Handle telephone inquiries and resolve customer questions promptly and professionally.
Maintain strong documentation, follow-up, and communication skills throughout the billing process.
Accurately update patient accounts and insurance information in the billing system.
Utilize familiarity with Epic system preferred to support billing and insurance processes.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support department goals.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
1 to 2 years prior physician billing experience, including carrier follow-up.
