LHH Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Quality & Engineering Manager for a leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier of metal Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) components client in the Metro Detroit, MI area. Our client is committed to quality and innovation ensuring them as a trusted partner to some of the world’s top automotive manufacturers.

We are seeking an experienced Quality and Engineering Manager with a strong background in the automotive industry, specifically in metal ICE components. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience and a proven track record of leading quality and engineering teams to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality and Engineering departments to ensure the highest standards of product quality and engineering excellence.

  • Develop and implement quality assurance strategies and processes to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee the design, development, and validation of new products and processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, and customer service, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications, such as ISO/TS 16949.

  • Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the engineering function.

  • Implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on schedule, and according to specifications.

  • Manage and mentor a team of quality and engineering professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and engineering performance.

  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to address quality concerns and drive improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Quality Management. Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a quality and engineering role within the automotive industry, with metal ICE components background.

  • 2 years of Management Experience

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) are a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and APQP.

  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO14001, OSHSAS18001, ISO/EC17025, VDA6.3, VDA6.5, FORD Q1 CERTIFICATION, etc.).

  • Familiarity with engineering principles, product development processes, and manufacturing operations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in quality and engineering software tools and systems.



Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $122,000.00 per year
