LHH Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Quality & Engineering Manager for a leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier of metal Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) components client in the Metro Detroit, MI area. Our client is committed to quality and innovation ensuring them as a trusted partner to some of the world’s top automotive manufacturers.
We are seeking an experienced Quality and Engineering Manager with a strong background in the automotive industry, specifically in metal ICE components. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience and a proven track record of leading quality and engineering teams to achieve operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Quality and Engineering departments to ensure the highest standards of product quality and engineering excellence.
Develop and implement quality assurance strategies and processes to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the design, development, and validation of new products and processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, and customer service, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications, such as ISO/TS 16949.
Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the engineering function.
Implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on schedule, and according to specifications.
Manage and mentor a team of quality and engineering professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and engineering performance.
Liaise with customers and suppliers to address quality concerns and drive improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Quality Management. Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a quality and engineering role within the automotive industry, with metal ICE components background.
2 years of Management Experience
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) are a plus.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and APQP.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO14001, OSHSAS18001, ISO/EC17025, VDA6.3, VDA6.5, FORD Q1 CERTIFICATION, etc.).
Familiarity with engineering principles, product development processes, and manufacturing operations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in quality and engineering software tools and systems.
Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $122,000.00 per year
