Job Title: Freight Forwarding Coordinator
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: 50,000-60,000
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Freight Forwarding Coordinator – Import/Export to manage the end-to-end coordination of international shipments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant transportation of goods across global markets. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs processes, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage the import and export of international shipments via air, ocean, and ground transportation.
Prepare and process shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
Liaise with customs brokers, carriers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
Track and trace shipments to ensure timely delivery and proactively resolve delays or issues.
Communicate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to support logistics operations.
Manage booking, billing, and documentation in freight forwarding systems.
Maintain accurate and organized shipment records for audits and reporting.
Monitor and optimize freight costs and carrier performance.
Stay up-to-date with international trade trends, tariffs, embargoes, and documentation requirements.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain with a focus on import/export operations.
Working knowledge of Incoterms, HTS codes, and customs procedures.
Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tracking platforms (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, or similar).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with international documentation and trade compliance is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Customs brokerage experience or certification (a plus)
Foreign language skills (a plus)
Strong Excel/data entry skills
Knowledge of hazardous materials (a plus)
Pay Details: $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 per year
