We’re partnering with a mission-driven organization near Muskegon, MI seeking a Staff Accountant to support the financial management of grants and funding sources. This is a critical role that ensures compliance with grant guidelines, accurate reporting, and proper financial oversight of restricted funds.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reporting for federal, state, and private grants.

  • Monitor grant budgets, spending, and deadlines to ensure compliance with funder requirements.

  • Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Assist with budget development for new and renewal grant proposals.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper allocation of expenses to grants.

  • Work closely with program managers to provide budget vs. actual reports and financial guidance.

  • Support audits by preparing schedules, documents, and responding to inquiries related to grants.

  • Stay informed of changes in grant regulations and financial compliance standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • 2+ years of experience in grant accounting or nonprofit financial management.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state grant compliance guidelines (e.g., Uniform Guidance/2 CFR Part 200).

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Great Plains, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with program and finance teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in nonprofit, government, or education sectors.

  • Familiarity with fund accounting.

  • CPA or working toward certification is a plus.



Pay Details: $68,000.00 to $78,000.00 per year
