We’re partnering with a mission-driven organization near Muskegon, MI seeking a Staff Accountant to support the financial management of grants and funding sources. This is a critical role that ensures compliance with grant guidelines, accurate reporting, and proper financial oversight of restricted funds.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records and reporting for federal, state, and private grants.
Monitor grant budgets, spending, and deadlines to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with budget development for new and renewal grant proposals.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper allocation of expenses to grants.
Work closely with program managers to provide budget vs. actual reports and financial guidance.
Support audits by preparing schedules, documents, and responding to inquiries related to grants.
Stay informed of changes in grant regulations and financial compliance standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2+ years of experience in grant accounting or nonprofit financial management.
Strong knowledge of federal and state grant compliance guidelines (e.g., Uniform Guidance/2 CFR Part 200).
Proficiency in accounting software (Great Plains, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with program and finance teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in nonprofit, government, or education sectors.
Familiarity with fund accounting.
CPA or working toward certification is a plus.
Pay Details: $68,000.00 to $78,000.00 per year
