Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Neptune Township, NJ 07753
Employment type: Contract to hire
Hours: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
About the role
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a healthcare organization in Neptune Township to add an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to its revenue cycle team. The position focuses on accurate claim submission, insurance follow-up, and denial resolution for both government and commercial payers.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and submit clean claims through clearinghouses or directly to payers
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals within established timeframes
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits as needed before billing
- Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts using EOB/EOP information
- Collaborate with coding, front-office, and collections staff to resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain meticulous documentation in the billing system and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Track aging reports and recommend process improvements to reduce accounts-receivable days
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of hands-on medical billing experience
- Solid knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial payer guidelines
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding concepts
- Proficiency with practice-management or EMR billing software (Epic, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
