Medical Billing Specialist

Location: Neptune Township, NJ 07753


Employment type: Contract to hire


Hours: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

About the role


LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a healthcare organization in Neptune Township to add an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to its revenue cycle team. The position focuses on accurate claim submission, insurance follow-up, and denial resolution for both government and commercial payers.

Key responsibilities


  • Prepare and submit clean claims through clearinghouses or directly to payers

  • Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals within established timeframes

  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits as needed before billing

  • Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts using EOB/EOP information

  • Collaborate with coding, front-office, and collections staff to resolve billing discrepancies

  • Maintain meticulous documentation in the billing system and ensure HIPAA compliance

  • Track aging reports and recommend process improvements to reduce accounts-receivable days

    Qualifications


  • Minimum two years of hands-on medical billing experience

  • Solid knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial payer guidelines

  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding concepts

  • Proficiency with practice-management or EMR billing software (Epic, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, or similar)

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
