Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Neptune, NJ 07753
Pay: $23-28 DOE
Job Description: A busy department is looking for a meticulous and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join their team. This role involves reviewing accounts for insurance follow-up, performing charge entry, posting payments and rejections, and selecting the correct diagnosis and procedure codes based on documentation and payer requirements. The ideal candidate will keep management informed of billing issues and perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Review accounts to determine appropriate insurance follow-up actions.
Accurately enter charges and ensure they are balanced and reconciled within department guidelines.
Serve as a lead worker and trainer for junior staff members.
Manually post payments, contractual adjustments, and rejections from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
Reconcile deposits against bank statements and major vendors, ensuring daily balance in GE/IDX.
Review and resolve credit balances, perform refunds or contractual adjustments, and correct charges as needed.
Perform accounts receivable follow-up on rejected claims.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
3-5 years of experience in a medical billing office is essential.
General understanding of accounting principles.
Proficiency in PC usage and accurate data entry skills.
Essential Functions:
Enter charges accurately and timely, ensuring charges are balanced and reconciled within department guidelines.
Serve as a lead worker and trainer for junior level staff.
Reconcile posted and edited payments against the ERA.
Manually post payments, contractual adjustments, and rejections from EOBs.
Review and resolve credit balances if refunds or contractual adjustments are needed, or charge corrections performed.
Perform AR follow-up on rejected claims.
Pay Details: $23.00 to $28.00 per hour
