Job Title: Director of Finance
Location: New York City, NY

Position Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. This leadership role ensures the integrity of financial information, supports strategic decision-making, and drives operational efficiency. The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and manages a team of accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Direct the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop a team of three accounting staff, promoting professional growth and high performance.

  • Financial Analysis: Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic planning and organizational decision-making.

  • Internal Controls: Assess and enhance internal control systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.

  • Budgeting: Contribute to the development and management of the annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and non-profit accounting standards.

  • Audit Management: Lead the preparation for annual audits and coordinate with external auditors throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory role.

  • Prior experience in a non-profit organization is required.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.

  • Proficiency with financial systems; experience with Financial Edge and Razor’s Edge is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated success in improving financial processes and implementing new procedures.

  • Effective leadership and team management capabilities.




Pay Details: $150,000.00 to $175,000.00 per year
