Nonprofit Senior Accountant, Temp to Perm, Hybrid Downtown Manhattan

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a large, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Downtown Manhattan to fill a Senior Accountant position on a temp-to-perm basis. This role follows a hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one day remote each week. It’s an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in nonprofit finance, grant reporting, and month-end close processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts

  • Track and report on restricted and unrestricted grants, ensuring compliance with donor requirements

  • Prepare financial statements and perform financial analysis with insightful commentary

  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support the annual audit process

  • Analyze expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings

  • Support ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a nonprofit environment

  • Strong understanding of grant accounting and fund reporting

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs required)

  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms

  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is a plus, but not required

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

$40-48/hr
