Position Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Manhattan, NY (In-office 4 days a week)

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 per year

Overview:

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a prestigious client to recruit a Senior Accountant. This pivotal role involves supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Controller to maintain financial integrity and support strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations during the monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary account details and documentation.
  • Provide insightful commentary and analysis for P&L expense accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts to support financial planning.

Month-End and Year-End Close Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post monthly and year-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary information for closing entries.
  • Ensure all financial data is accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and schedules for management review.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and disclosures.
  • Support the annual audit process by providing auditors with required documentation and explanations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and generate meaningful financial insights.
  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting.
