LHH has partnered with a company in their search for a temporary Associate General Counsel. This role is in NYC with 4 days on-site. The assignment is anticipated to last 6 months or more.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead negotiations and oversee the drafting of diverse transaction documents such as annuities, life contracts, and pension liabilities.
2. Provide strategic legal counsel on high-value (re)insurance transactions,
3. Act as a pivotal resource on regulatory landscapes, both domestic and international
4. Coordinate across various functional areas to support and advise on business initiatives
5. Drive the development and implementation of best practices within the organization, serving as a leader in evaluating and presenting innovative strategies and transactions to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree and Licensed Attorney in good standing with the Bar
2. A minimum of 6 years of legal experience, ideally within financial services, insurance, or a regulated industry.
3. Demonstrated expertise in negotiating life/annuity reinsurance transactions and pension risk transfer transactions.
4. Proven ability to independently negotiate complex transactions
5. Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills
6. Strong work ethic, integrity, and accountability, underpinning a commitment to excellence in all endeavors.

Pay Rate: $210-$280/hour, dependent on experience
