LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Accountant for a 13-week onsite contract opportunity with a respected healthcare organization in Newport News, VA. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in accounting and a passion for data-driven decision-making in a highly regulated environment.
Location: Onsite (5x8 schedule, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Duration: 13 weeks to start
Interview Process: Virtual interviews; assessments required prior to interview consideration
Dress Code: Casual (jeans welcome)
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct complex accounting analyses using advanced Excel and database tools.
Prepare and analyze monthly estimates for contractual adjustments, charity care, and bad debt.
File Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements.
Develop and maintain annual budgets and tax filings at the federal, state, and local levels.
Report to state regulatory authorities and perform cost analysis.
Interpret and apply federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.
Evaluate and enhance the integrity of accounting functions and recommend improvements.
Serve as a liaison with auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required); Master’s degree preferred.
Strong analytical skills with proven experience in financial reporting and budgeting.
Proficiency in Excel and database management.
At least one year of healthcare accounting or finance experience (CPA may substitute).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
