Risk Management Analyst - Full On-Site in Oakland (Temporary Position for 3-6 Months)

Position Details:

• Title: Risk Management Analyst

• Location: Oakland, CA (Fully On-Site)

• Type: Temporary (3-6 months)

• Pay: $42.86 per hour

Role Overview: Under the direction of the Risk Manager or designee, provides administrative support and assistance in the areas of claims management, safety, and general insurance programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Claims Management:

  • Receive, evaluate, and process insurance billings, liability, auto, and property damage claims.

  • Review liability claims, accident reports, property damage reports, Workers’ Compensation claims, and other documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Conduct preliminary or follow-up fact-finding interviews on litigated and non-litigated cases.

  • Assist legal counsel in gathering information for interrogatories, requests for admission, and production of documents.

  • Assist with responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and public records requests.

  • Set up files, log information, and prepare reports, letters, correspondence, and memos.

• Insurance Administration:

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain complete and accurate claim and insurance files, logs, and reports.

  • Review insurance policies for accuracy and completeness and ensure compliance with Authority requirements.

  • Interact with brokers regarding quotes and process insurance billings.

  • Assist in the insurance evaluation process and correspond with claimants, adjusters, insurance brokers, attorneys, and other individuals and agencies.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Assist with setting up Workers’ Compensation claims, working with claims examiners and medical providers.

  • Monitor and track claims status and ergonomic assessment requests and equipment procurement.

  • Assist departments with safety training according to CAL-OSHA compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

• Minimum of two years of applicable experience.

• Valid California driver's license and an insurable driving record.

• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic principles, practices, and techniques of insurance administration, claims investigation, adjustment, and workers’ compensation.

• Claims processing, insurance record keeping, safety standards, government codes, public liability, and rules of evidence.

• Ability to provide complex administrative support to the insurance and claims process.

• Adjust or settle claims and document the process.

• Prepare detailed written reports and correspondence.

• Respond to public inquiries and maintain community relations.

• Conduct research, collect, organize, and analyze data pertaining to insurance and claims management.

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
