Safety, Compliance, and Risk Manager LHH is teaming up with a non-profit organization in Oakland, CA in search of a Safety, Compliance, and Risk Manager. The organization’s mission is to deliver food to those in need with dignity and compassion. This Temp-to-Hire role is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in our community. The Safety, Compliance, and Risk Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations and collaborate with the Warehouse & Facilities Manager, Transportation Manager, Finance, and People & Culture teams. Primary responsibilities will include ensuring employee and visitor safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management. They will oversee safety policies, manage security staff, and work with third-party safety vendors. Key Responsibilities:


  • Risk and Compliance Management:
    • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and develop strategies to enhance safety and regulatory compliance.
    • Create and implement loss prevention policies, update risk management procedures, and maintain business continuity plans.
    • Manage safety software tracking systems and oversee disaster preparedness programs.
    • Lead safety training and audits, ensuring adherence to regulations and industry standards.
  • Employee and Visitor Safety:
    • Develop and communicate safety policies and procedures.
    • Assess training needs, manage safety training programs, and facilitate safety committee meetings.
    • Conduct safety audits and resolve unsafe conditions in collaboration with the Warehouse & Facilities Manager.
  • Insurance Administration:
    • Oversee insurance documentation, including certificates of insurance, renewals, and claims.
    • Coordinate with Finance and HR for insurance policy renewals and claims management.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Support equity and inclusion initiatives within the organization.
    • Manage daily office operations and perform other assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of management experience in health and safety, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop effective risk mitigation strategies and safety programs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with insurance management and a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with DOT regulations, Cal-OSHA, food safety certifications, and commercial insurance.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety culture and talent training experience.

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (7.5-hour workday with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break).
  • Non-negotiable starting salary: $98,000 per year.

Location: Oakland, CA Worksite Type: Fully on-site Salary: $93,000 - 98,000/year, depending on experience Hours: Full time. 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday. 1 hour lunch.
