LHH is partnering with a client in the Transportation industry within the Kansas City Metro area to fill their Accounting Manager role. This role will involve analyzing compensation data, developing salary structures, and providing insights to support our compensation strategy. This opportunity would start off as a CONTRACT to assist with a project implementation and could potentially turn into a permanent role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compensation analysis and a passion for ensuring fair and competitive compensation practices. The ability to navigate Workday Software and utilizing the Compensation module is a REQUIREMENT.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinate and complete annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data, producing financial reports and statements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- At least 3+ years of accounting experience WITHIN THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
