LHH is partnering with a client in the Overland Park, Kansas area who is seeking a Benefits Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System) and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of employee benefit plans.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and coordinate employee benefit plans including health, dental, vision, life, long-term care, short-term and long-term disability, critical illness, on-site clinic, wellness, employee assistance program, and Section 125 plans.
- Conduct new hire orientations and provide day-to-day administration of benefit plans.
- Handle inquiries about eligibility, changes, enrollments, and benefit plan interpretation.
- Coordinate the benefit renewal process, including activities associated with annual open enrollment.
- Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations regarding employee benefits.
- Administer retirement plans, including KPERS, MEPP, KP&F, and the 457 Deferred Compensation Plans.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all benefit plans.
- Communicate benefit plan information to employees through various mediums such as newsletters, email, and memos.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local legislation affecting employee benefits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Certification as a benefits professional is preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in human resources or benefits administration, with a preference for experience in municipalities or states.
- Advanced knowledge of KPERS and other retirement plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS software systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
