LHH is partnering with a client in the Kansas City area who is seeking a Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal administration and some bookkeeping experience. This role involves supporting attorneys with various legal tasks, managing trial preparations, and maintaining organized records.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and requests for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders) and motions (preparation of supporting documents and exhibits and preparing hearing binders).
- Manage trial preparation including coordination of witnesses and travel, trial exhibits, charts, trial notebooks, subpoenas, and page lines.
- Routine communications with clients, experts, and attorneys about case status and preparation.
- Draft legal documents, including affidavits, subpoenas, motions, contracts, complaints, briefs, and deposition notices.
- Organize and maintain files, manage exhibits, and submit documents to state and federal courts.
- Transcribe, proofread, and file legal documents prior to deadlines.
- Schedule court depositions, hearings, and other meetings as determined by an attorney.
- Manage travel logistics for one or more attorneys.
- Handle discovery and organize files.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience as a paralegal.
- Solid understanding of civil litigation (state and federal deadlines and rules).
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team with all levels of experience.
- Proficiency in legal terminology and real estate verbiage.
- Experience with bookkeeping is a plus.
