Payroll Manager

$130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per Year


LHH Recruitment Solutions is representing an organization located in the Kansas City area (Johnson County, KS) that seeks to hire a Payroll Manger. This position is responsible for managing and accurately processing payroll for both domestic and international employees. This person should be knowledgeable regarding employment law and regulatory compliance for multiple locations, optimizing payroll operations, managing HRIS/Payroll systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership, communicating with the workforce, and ensuring employee satisfaction.



Responsibilities include:



  • Managing the accurate and timely end-to-end processing of payrolls for a global workforce (with varied schedules in multiple locations and countries)


  • Making calculations, withholding taxes, deducting benefits, and executing garnishments; resolving issues


  • Staying in accordance with domestic and international legal compliance, local regulations, tax laws, and company policies


  • Leveraging and monitoring the payroll systems and technology to streamline processes, identify improvements, and improve accuracy


  • Leading a small team of Payroll Specialists; providing training, supporting professional development, and evaluating performance of department


  • Collaborating with others including HR, IT, Finance and Accounting; communicating with external payroll service providers and tax consultants


  • Preparing payroll reports, conducting research on trends/costs/discrepancies, documenting, and presenting analysis to senior leadership


Qualifications needed:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or related field is required


  • Professional certification (CPP, CIPP) is preferred

    At least 7 years of professional experience in payroll management, including at least 3 years of international payroll processing experience


  • Proficiency utilizing payroll technology system such as ADP, SAP, Workday, UKG &/or Ceridian


  • Some people management experience is necessary


  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal relationship skills


  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize time, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
