Property Accountant
LHH Professional Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Property Accountant for a confidential client based in Philadelphia, PA. This role involves managing the financial records for a variety of properties within the client's commercial and residential portfolios. The Property Accountant will handle a range of accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements for each property. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with Asset Management, Property Management, and VPs of Commercial/Residential. A solid understanding of accounting principles and a readiness to take on project-based tasks are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately and promptly record business transactions by preparing journal entries.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations in line with the month-end close schedule.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements, including budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Manage cash schedules to ensure the financial needs of properties are met.
- Prepare lender reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for loan compliance.
- Assist Asset and Property Managers with accounting, budgeting, and reporting matters.
- Support external auditors with year-end audits for select properties.
- Collaborate with external CPAs on annual entity tax returns.
- Undertake special projects and other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- A proactive, self-directed team player who is conscientious and takes responsibility for their work.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger account practices.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience.
- Experience with MRI Software (preferred, but not required).
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and database applications.
