Senior Accountant (Temporary, Onsite)

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Pay: $35-$42/hr.

Are you a seasoned accounting professional looking for a challenging role within the non-profit sector? We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. This temporary, fully onsite position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our organization’s financial growth and stability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, specifically within the non-profit industry, and experience with grants management.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, your primary duties will include:

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for both internal and external recipients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Recording and verifying a variety of complex financial transactions in the form of journal entries.
  • Utilizing your strong Excel skills to manage and analyze large amounts of data, create financial models, and streamline accounting processes.
  • Performing variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts, identifying discrepancies, researching their causes, and implementing necessary corrections.
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis to support decision-making processes and provide insights into financial performance.
  • Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to gather information, resolve issues, and improve overall financial operations.
  • Grants Management: Assisting with the financial administration of grants, including tracking grant expenditures, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other accounting software.
  • Experience with grants management is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
