Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Type: Full-Time, Long-Term, In-Office
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $26/hr - $28/hr depending on experience

A well-established construction company is seeking a detail-oriented accounts payable specialist to join their team. This person will be responsible for validating invoices from vendors, matching them with purchase orders and ensuring accurate and timely payments. Attention to detail and commitment to precision will be essential in maintaining the integrity of our client's financial records. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable assisting in other areas, particularly accounts receivable, when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and ensure timely payments.

  • Verify invoice details, match invoices to purchase orders, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Manage payment schedules, ensuring vendors are paid according to terms.

  • Reconcile AP transactions and vendor statements.

  • Work closely with vendors to address inquiries and resolve payment issues.

  • Assist with lien waivers and ensure compliance with construction-related payment processes.

  • Maintain organized and accurate AP records.

  • Generate reports on AP status, aging, and cash flow projections.

  • Assist in accounts receivable when needed, including collections, cash applications, and resolving discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Experience in accounts payable, preferably in construction or related industries.

  • Sage 100 or NetSuite experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills—must be professional, clear, and proactive in vendor and internal interactions.

  • Ability to research issues independently before seeking assistance.

  • Experience with lien waivers and construction-related payment processes is a plus.

  • Comfortable assisting with accounts receivable tasks when needed.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
