Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS)
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85008 (Hybrid after Training)
Pay Range: $89,000 - $132,000 per year
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) to join our healthcare team in Phoenix, AZ. This hybrid position (after training) plays a critical role in improving the quality and accuracy of clinical documentation, ensuring it reflects the level of services provided and enhances patient care outcomes. You will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure clinical documentation meets regulatory standards and supports the appropriate reimbursement for services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze patient medical records to identify missing or incomplete documentation.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to clarify clinical documentation and ensure it accurately reflects the patient's condition and treatment.
Utilize your knowledge of clinical coding and compliance standards to improve the documentation of medical records.
Educate healthcare providers on documentation best practices and compliance requirements.
Ensure documentation accurately supports diagnoses, treatment, clinical outcomes, and coding integrity.
Work closely with coding and billing departments to optimize reimbursement processes.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to provide insights and recommendations on documentation practices.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of clinical documentation improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Must have an active Arizona RN License.
5 years of Clinical Documentation related experience.
Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certification required.
Strong understanding of clinical terminology, medical coding standards (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare reimbursement processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Pay Details: $89,000.00 to $132,000.00 per year
