Medical Billing Specialist - Follow-up and Collections
Are you passionate about precision in healthcare financials? We are seeking a dedicated full-time Medical Billing Specialist for our esteemed client in Phoenix, AZ. This role, available for direct hire, focuses on meticulously handling follow-up and collections, ensuring seamless claims processing.
Location: Phoenix, AZ - Onsite
Compensation: $21-24 per hour, with potential sign-on bonus
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am-4pm (flexible)
Responsibilities:
Accurate assignment of codes to medical procedures and diagnoses for billing and reimbursement purposes.
Thorough gathering and verification of patient data, including demographics, insurance details, and medical history.
Compilation and submission of claims to insurance companies and governmental bodies for payment processing.
Diligent pursuit of unpaid claims, addressing denials, resolving related issues, and resubmitting claims as needed.
Engaging with patients to handle inquiries and concerns regarding bills and available payment options.
Staying updated on evolving healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing procedures.
Maintaining precise records of financial transactions and patient data.
Ensuring compliance with healthcare laws and regulations governing billing and privacy.
Proficiency in insurance collections, including negotiation of payment arrangements and handling correspondence.
Managing patient calls to support collection efforts, including assessing eligibility for charity programs and negotiating discounts.
Conducting thorough account reviews, tracing missing information, and updating details as per billing policies.
Demonstrating expertise in HCPCS, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes, medical terminology, and clinical documentation.
Understanding billing requirements for various payers and assisting in staff education on billing prerequisites.
Knowledge of insurance regulations and guidelines to effectively communicate with payers regarding claims processing.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Undergraduate Degree or associated certificates (preferred)
5+ years of previous experience in medical billing/collections (required)
Basic Excel proficiency (required)
