Job Title: Software Developer (Contract)

Reports To: Director of Software and Development


About the Role

We are seeking a Software Developer for a 1-year contract with a strong likelihood of extension. This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days onsite in Pleasanton, CA. You will play a key role in migrating and developing various systems used by our client, with a primary focus on writing, optimizing, and managing SQL queries and database solutions.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Write SQL statements, functions, and procedures with a focus on performance.

  • Analyze and implement efficient database designs based on accepted principles.

  • Create and analyze indexes to enhance SQL performance.

  • Extract needed data elements from third-party databases.

  • Reconstruct reports based on third-party data or other legacy processes.

  • Develop reports from user specifications.

  • Document unit design decisions clearly.


What We’re Looking For

Experience and Education:

  • 5+ years of professional SQL experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (preferred) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar SQL-standard databases.

  • Experience with PL/pgSQL or other SQL programming languages.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as VBScript, JavaScript, and Python.

  • Familiarity with relational databases like SQL Server and MySQL.

  • Experience with Jasper Reports and Jaspersoft Studio (a plus).

  • Understanding of full lifecycle system development and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies; experience with ClickUp and Confluence is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Git version control and Microsoft Office.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.

  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve production issues effectively.

  • High energy, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.
