LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and motivated Cash Application Specialist for a contract opportunity in Pleasant Hill, CA. This role is responsible for accurately applying incoming payments to customer accounts, ensuring timely and precise reconciliation of accounts receivable. Ideally you will have strong analytical skills, a customer-service mindset, and a passion for accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately post and reconcile daily cash receipts (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to customer accounts
Research and resolve payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, and short/over payments
Communicate with customers and internal departments to clarify payment details
Maintain and update customer records in the ERP system
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to cash applications
Prepare reports related to unapplied cash, aging balances, and reconciliations
Monitor and follow up on remittance information and documentation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Collaborate with the billing and collections teams to resolve payment issues
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or general accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment
Knowledge of GAAP principles and best practices in AR/cash management
Familiarity with lockbox and electronic payment processing systems
