Job Title: Benefits Specialist
Location: Portland, Oregon (Hybrid Work Available) Compensation:
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are working with a client seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will be responsible for administering employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and serving as a key point of contact for employee benefits inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and manage employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k), and wellness initiatives.
Serve as the primary liaison between employees and benefits providers.
Conduct benefits orientations and open enrollment sessions.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA).
Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS systems.
Assist with benefits audits and reporting.
Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefits eligibility, claims, and coverage.
Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions.
Stay current on industry trends and recommend enhancements to benefits offerings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of experience in benefits administration.
Strong knowledge of federal and Oregon state benefits regulations.
Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, BambooHR).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
CEBS or PHR certification is a plus.
